Long Love Stories

Unknown_103.jpg*Nixon
I pulled the classroom door open, stepping into Art class. To be honest, I loved art. It was my escape from reality.
Anyways, I started walking to my seat in the back of the
class. I glanced at Nixon, who hand an annoyed and
disgusted look on his face. I sighed. I wish he knew how
much he hurt me when he broke up with me. No, strike
that, DUMPED me. Brutally dumped me. He didn't even
give an explanation. He said we could be friends, but he
never made the effort with me. I sat down at my seat, as that day replayed in my
head,again.
<Flashback>
I was sitting on our bench, waiting for Nixon to arrive. I was looking around
when I spotted him. He wasn't that hard to notice. He had brown hair that swept
across his forehead. His eyes were what got me hooked on him. They were blue,
ice blue, and they were captivating. He came over and sat down next to me, a
worried expression on his face.
"Something's wrong," I thought. "He always kisses me on the cheek when he
greets me."
"Esmeralda, there's no easy way for me to tell you this. It's over. I think we
should just be friends," he said in a rush.
I sat there, shocked. It was sinking in when I realized he didn't love me back.
"But I love him!" I thought. I got up and started walking home.
"I'm sorry, Esmeralda!" he yelled after me.
"No you're not, Nixon," I mumbled to myself. Tears started to spill down my
cheeks as I entered my house.
<End of Flashback>
The teacher stood up after the bell rang. "Class, we're going to have a free day, so
you're allowed to do whatever. Just stay out of trouble!"
I sighed and got out my sketching book and iPod. I stuck one headphone in and
started sketching. I heard snickering and looked up. I saw Nixon, Abbie, and the
popular group quickly turn their heads in other ways, as if I wouldn't know. They
were laughing at me. I was labeled the "emo" at my school, because I was
different. I had enough. I got up and shoved everything in my bad and stepped
outside. I pulled my iPod out again and started wandering off. My emotions got
the best of me, and I started to cry. I picked a secluded, shady tree and sat down.
I heard leaved being crunched by feet. I looked at the shoes, which were now in
front of me. Converse, familiar ones, at that.
"Esmeralda?"
I looked up and saw Nixon's blue eyes staring at me, a look of guilt lurking within
them.
"What do you want, Nixon?" I snapped.
"I'm sorry, Esmeralda," he sighed.
"No you're not! You never were!" I snapped again.
"What do you mean?" he asked. He looked hurt. Good.
"You know what I mean! You were never sorry for breaking my heart, never sorry
for laughing at me, never sorry for making fun of me. You were never sorry!" I
yelled.
He looked down, ashamed. I got up and sighed. I turned to leave, but he grabbed my wrist.
"Esmeralda, wait. Let me explain," he pleaded. His eyes begging me to stay.
"Why should I?" I slanted my eyes.
He sighed and looked down at the ground, still keeping his grip on my arm. He
was silent for a few minutes before he finally spoke. "I was stupid, Esmeralda.
Okay? I thought Abbie was what I wanted. She tricked me, like she does with
every other guy at this school. I didn't even realize I had an amazing girl in front
of me. I'm a teenage boy, I do the stupidest things sometimes. I still love you,
Esmeralda. I need you in my life. I love you. . ." he whispered the last sentence.
Tears were spilling down his cheeks.
I didn't say a word, instead I pulled him into a hug. A long, meaningful hug.
After we pulled away from each other, I whispered, "I still love you, too."
His face lit up as if he we a kid in a candy store. He smiled his goofy grin, the grin
I missed so much. He pulled me into another hug, but he didn't let go this time.
He stroked my hair as he whispered,
"I promise to never hurt you ever again."
